2. The Pans de Travassac: a journey through time and geology.

The Travassac Slate Quarries , located about twenty kilometers from Objat, are an exceptional historical and geological site. This former slate mining site, dating from the 19th century, invites you to delve into the industrial history of the region and discover a breathtaking landscape, shaped by man and nature over the centuries. This former quarry is famous for the quality of its slate, a material used for centuries in construction and for roofing. Slate mining began in the 18th century, but it was in the 19th century that the site truly flourished. Travassac is unique in that the slates are extracted vertically, which makes it possible to create superb vertical slate walls. These walls, often referred to as "slate forests", offer an impressive visual spectacle. The quarry only supplies slate for national monuments, including the famous Mont Saint Michel abbey.

Nestled in the heart of the small village of Arnac-Pompadour in Corrèze, stands the imposing Pompadour castle, a building completely rebuilt in the 15th century by the Hélie family. In 1745, Louis XV offered the Pompadour estate to his favorite and mistress Jeanne Lenormand d'Étiolles who would become the very famous Marquise de Pompadour.

Over the decades, the castle has suffered numerous fires and to this day, only the south wing of the castle remains.

Pompadour is as famous for its castle as for its National Stud Farm. Also called the "city of the horse", the small town is known throughout the world for its horse shows. With   more than 160 days of events per year, it is an essential place in the world of horses.

10. St Robert and Ségur-le-Château classified among the "most beautiful villages in France"

Organized around a Benedictine monastery built by the disciples of Saint-Robert, the village experienced violent religious clashes. From this period, however, there remains a beautiful fortified Romanesque church from the 12th century and stone-built seigneurial residences in a hilly landscape on the borders of Corrèze and Dordogne.

Ségur le château is a medieval village crossed by the Auvézère river, preserves old houses and cobbled streets, creating an atmosphere of serenity and beauty. The 13th century castle and its ruins, as well as the bridges and mills that line the river, make this place a real journey through time.
